New York Times: "Pig," a Play, Roasts the Food-Obsessed

Oh, hey, NBD, just a feature on Diner’s Journal.

At a performance of “Pig: A Restaurant” at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in Chelsea on Wednesday night, a deranged celebrity chef unveiled a drink list featuring “bacon-infused bourbon” and “pork cheek bitters.” A locavore praised the taste of edible weeds picked along the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway. And a food publicist fretted that a photographer’s flash might compromise “the integrity of the food’s color story.”

It is clear that the creators of this 30-minute show — which unfolds at the opening of “East Gowanus’s hottest new eatery” and deftly skewers the pretensions of New York foodie culture — have spent time in the food industry.

Real talk about the last year and a half I worked at GSB:

“Bacon is delicious,” Ms. Cohan-Miccio conceded, “but at a certain point I was like, ‘If I have to read another press release about a bacon-wrapped meatloaf I’m going to shoot myself in the head.’ ”

no bid deal, just another one of my talented friends.

Yay!
